How We Check and Approve Providers

How We Check and Approve Providers

One of the most common questions households ask is simple: how are tradespeople verified before they appear on DomusVesta? It is a fair question, because trust is the whole point of the platform. This guide explains exactly what a provider must do before their profile goes live, and how they continue to build trust afterwards.

The short answer is that no provider appears on DomusVesta by simply signing up. Every provider must complete a detailed profile, list their services with clear pricing, and submit supporting documents, including proof of identity. The profile is then reviewed by our team and only goes live once it has been approved.

What a provider submits

Before a profile can go live, a provider builds it out in full. This is more than a name and a phone number; it is a real picture of who they are and what they do.

  1. Business identity and contact details. The provider provides their business name and contact information so households know who they are dealing with.

  2. Address. A business or trading address is provided as part of establishing a genuine, locatable presence.

  3. A biography. Providers write an "About" section describing their experience, the kind of work they do and what households can expect. This helps you get a feel for the person before you ever message them.

  4. Services with clear pricing. Providers list the services they offer alongside clear pricing, so there are no surprises. Our guide on how providers add their services and pricing explains this side in more detail.

  5. Proof of identity and supporting documents. Providers confirm their identity by uploading a government-issued photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence. They also upload documents that back up their credibility, such as public liability insurance and relevant trade certifications. Depending on the trade, that might include accreditations like Gas Safe for gas work or NICEIC for electrical work. These documents are central to the check.

Review and approval

Once the profile and documents are submitted, the provider cannot simply switch themselves on. The profile is sent for review.

Each profile is reviewed before it goes live

Our team reviews the provider's identity document, business details, insurance and certifications. Only when everything checks out is the profile approved and made live so households can find it. Approval typically happens within 24 to 48 hours. If something is missing or unclear, the provider may be asked to provide more information before approval.

This review step is what makes DomusVesta different from an open directory. By the time you see a provider listed, their identity, business details, insurance and relevant certifications have already been checked and approved.

If you are a provider preparing to go live, our guide on how to complete your professional profile walks through getting everything ready for review.

Trust tiers: building reputation over time

Approval gets a provider through the door. After that, they can earn trust tiers that are shown on their profile, so households can see at a glance how established and reliable a provider is. There are three tiers, and they build on one another.

  • Verified Professional. This is the first tier. It shows that the provider has been checked and approved through the process described above. Their identity, business details, insurance and certifications have been reviewed, and their profile is live.

Verification shown on a provider's profile

  • Trusted Professional. This higher tier is earned over time through completed bookings, strong ratings and a track record of reliability. It signals that a provider has not only been checked, but has consistently delivered good work for real households.

  • Community Champion. This is the highest tier on DomusVesta. It recognises providers who have built an outstanding reputation in their community through sustained quality, reliability and positive reviews.

These tiers reward providers who keep doing excellent work, and they give households an easy way to see who has earned the most trust.

Why this protects everyone

This approach is deliberately careful, and it protects both sides.

For households, it means you are choosing from providers whose credentials have already been reviewed and approved, and whose ongoing reputation is visible. You are not gambling on an unknown name.

For providers, it means the platform is not flooded with unchecked listings competing on noise. Doing things properly, holding the right insurance and certifications, and delivering reliable work is what gets rewarded with higher trust tiers and more visibility.

Because reviews on DomusVesta come only from completed bookings, the ratings that feed into trust tiers reflect genuine, finished work. You can read more about that in our guide on how reviews work.

If you are a provider ready to begin, the best next step is to join as a founding member and start building your profile. If you are a household, you can browse with confidence knowing every listing has already passed our checks.
